5 Days to Fail - New Year's Resolutions
A blessing from Isaiah 53:3; Matthew 11:18a

He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief;
and as one from whom men hide their faces
He was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isaiah 53:3
The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look at him! A glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
Matthew 11:18a
5 days is probably far enough into the year that several of us have already failed to uphold our New Year's Resolutions—
We slept right past 5:30, when we were supposed to start reading our Bible. We’ve already lost it on the kids. We didn’t make it to church yesterday, and there’s no way the gym was going to happen this morning.
And so what was going to be your triumph turns into a day of failure with 360 remaining to remind you of what you couldn’t do.
But maybe that’s the best way to start a year—in the full knowledge of our inability. Because that just might give us the eyes to see the Man of Sorrow, who took on our weakness that we might have Friendship with the God who clings to us in our failure.
You are loved, Happy New Year, Go in Peace
