For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38-39
I remember the first day my son came down the stairs without his Security Blanket. The Living room was no less dangerous than it was the day before. But an illusion had broken and the place he put his confidence had changed. And so, when he hugged me that morning, he wrapped both arms around my neck, rather than having one hand hanging to his side, clutching a useless piece of cloth.
He was free.
Whatever your security blanket is, and unfortunately it’s probably a thing you call “living out your faith”, but is actually faithlessly clutching for control, seek it out and let it go -- not only can it not save you, it will fail you and likely even betray you.
Free your hands to cling to the God of Abraham who through generations and millennia has shown that he is alive and active and faithful and whose love for you defeats even death.
Hear it again:
Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Go in Peace
